DESCRIPTION:
Observed on the 17th day of the Hebrew month of Tammuz (unless it falls on a Saturday), the Fast of Tammuz begins a three-week mourning period marking the breaching of the walls of Jerusalem in 70AD by the Roman army under Titus.
The event marks the beginning of the end of the Hebrew Temple in Jerusalem and the temple-based faith practiced by the Hebrews. Over the next two centuries, the religion would adapt, adopting Rabbinic Talmudism in its place through the present day.
